Matthew "Mattrix" Martino is a rapper/hip-hop artist, poet, producer, lyricist and instructor with 17 years of professional experience. His experience ranges from writing, recording and performing collectively to thousands of people attending live shows over his career, to interning under Mark McKenna; a producer/engineer of Don Henley (of The Eagles)'s 6 times platinum selling album "The End Of The Innocence", to also performing back-up vocals for Weerd Science; which is Josh Eppard (of Coheed And Cambria)'s DIY hip-hop project. Later in his career Mattrix coined the slogan and hashtag #HipHopIsFreeSpeech. His experience in instructing writing hip-hop and poetry comes from over a decade of the hands on teaching and guidance of aspiring lyricists and emcees. As well as his involvement in running the Hip-Hop Enhancment Program along side Bard College Graduate Bridget Bertoldi, who was in Bard College's Conservatory Program. Together the two work on teaching inner city kids and other disadvantaged teenagers studio recording skills, rhythm and cadence, creating melodies and writing rap lyrics. By day, #Mattrix is a counselor for troubled youth, as well as a loving son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and father. He incorporates positive, important and social issues into his rap music. Topics range from drug culture, suicide awareness, bullying, and fringe politics to good vibes, dance songs, street life, humor, motivational music and straight up complex lyricism over hard hitting beats. Rapping to crowds in cities like Cleveland, OH, Boston, MA, Albany, NY, Virginia Beach, VA, Detroit, MI and Hartford, CT to name a few, #Mattrix has performed at live concerts with well-known artists such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Hinder, Tech N9ne, Obie Trice, Cory Gunz, D12, Machine Gun Kelly, Wu-Block (Wu Tang Clan & D Block super group), Mike Jones, Twiztid, Hopsin, Diabolic, Ruste Juxx, Lingo, Hed PE, Insane Clown Posse, Mushroomhead, Lil Wyte, Jelly Roll, T.O.N.E-Z, Ghostface Killa, Bizzy Bone (solo), and many more. He is currently working on his debut album "Life of Rhyme: Chapter 1", which features production from JusListen, EDOBY Beats, Sinima Beats and Mattrix himself.
